About Me

Hello! My name is Kaylee Shen. I'm interested in economic, environmental, social, and political challenges. I am especially fascinated when these intersect into a wicked problem. 

In the past, I have managed deal flow for climate investors, helped pass Olympia's climate resolution, set the foundation for carbon credit development, studied human trafficking in plantations & distant water fishing vessels, and more.  

More recently, my work has been in rural development and smallholder commodity industries (oil palm, seaweed) in Southeast Asia. I spent the past year traveling to Malaysian Borneo for fieldwork to implement oil palm agroforestry and learn ground realities for the Sabah Renewable Energy Rural Electrification Roadmap. 

I am most passionate when I find a particular intervention to be a compelling solution for the specific problem space. I find many problem spaces fascinating, and I am sector-agnostic and problem space-agnostic.
